This is a Staff view of the OPAC.
Your patrons will not see this:
MARC# 3087 Added via NEW Batch 15 2002/01/31 by Mark
This is a fairly thin display. We can enrich the display by manually
editing the bib via the functions [Cataloging] and [Edit Existing Bibs]. Or, we can go to the
Library of Congress Catalog
or
NLM LOCATORPlus
to download the full bib for Scientific American, and then import the bib into the catalog.
This process is documented in the
CyberTools Quick Tour: Add a MARC Bib to a Catalog.
When you import a MARC bib to be in Serials Management, it is
imperative that after the import, while in function [Batch Control],
you select [Edit Bib Functions] and then run [Serial Initiation].
This latter function will place a tag 949, subfield a, to SERIAL.
This value at this subfield tells CyberTools for Libraries to place
the title into Serials Management.
The next slide will show the patron's OPAC view with a bib imported from the Library of Congress (with a little editing).
